Welcome Back to School!

Dear Boardwalk Lower Families,

​Please disregard the first email ​you received from me ​today, I am still learning all my new email groups and I sent my staff welcome back email to all families.  Thank you to the person who ​emailed me letting me know that they were not available for breakfast on the 25th!  Below is my letter for families  😊​

Welcome to the start of an incredibly special school year! I hope your summer has been filled with rest, fun, and wonderful moments with your children. As we prepare to open our doors, I wanted to share a little snapshot of my own summer so you can get to know me a bit better. I just returned from a wonderful vacation with my family, where I tried my best to completely unplug and just focus on being a mom. This summer was a milestone one for us: my children, Madeleine and William, are stepping into 9th and 11th grade.

I am experiencing a massive shift from being intensely needed every second to watching their independence blossom. In fact, while on vacation, my daughter (who a few years ago promised she would never move out) confidently informed me that she wants to travel overseas by herself. My mouth didn't quite hit the floor, but I had to gently remind her that she is still 13 and we might need to wait a few years!

I share this because it reminds me so much of the beautiful journey your children are on. Whether you are sending your oldest off to Kindergarten or watching your third grader step into a leadership role in our building, we are all sharing the same goal: guiding them, challenging them, and helping them grow into independent, kind, and resilient little people.

This year marks an exciting new chapter for all of us. As we come together as a newly restructured K-3 community of about 500 families, we aren’t just starting a new school year, we are building a brand-new community together, one story at a time.

Over the summer, I hope you were able to connect with new families at our neighborhood playdates! A huge thank you to our PTO for organizing these events to help us start building our new community.

Please know: If you weren't able to make it to the summer playdates, do not worry at all. The summer is meant for family time, and your child is not behind!

When school starts, our priority as a staff will be ensuring that every single child feels safe, welcomed, and seen. We know that coming into a restructured school means seeing new faces, and we are completely prepared to guide them through it.

We will be spending a lot of intentional time during those first weeks helping students:

• Get to know one another through fun, low-pressure activities.

• Navigate the playground and cafeteria to find new buddies.

• Learn how to make new friends while celebrating old ones.

True communities are built on trust and time.
